COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING CONCEPT

Virtual Welding provides the user with a comprehensive didactic concept consisting of practical training sessions on the simulator, theoretical content, and tests to assess what has been learned. The trainer can also create lesson plans and courses, and adapt the training to the respective target groups.

VIRTUAL TRAINING

The virtual training consists of pre-defined welding tasks, based on the welding training of the International Institute of Welding (IIW). On the simulator, trainees can learn and practice basic welding skills on common workpieces, step-by-step. Once the training has been completed successfully, the next welding task follows and additional parameters are used to evaluate the welding result.

THEORY DOCUMENTS

In addition to the practical exercises, the Virtual Welding simulator provides trainees with theoretical knowledge in the form of basic documents on the MIG/MAG, TIG, and MMA welding processes. A PDF upload function enables customer documents to be uploaded and used.

KNOWLEDGE TEST

The training concept also includes a multiple choice test to assess how well the theoretical content has been learned. The instructor can use the scoring system to compare the training participants' results. Questions can be created or customized as desired.

FROM TRAINING TO SIMULATION

TRAINING SEQUENCE

In the training sequence, the virtual trainer (Ghost) specifies the optimum welding speed, the distance to the workpiece, and the angle of contact of the welding torch or electrode holder, as well as the filler metal. On-screen traffic light color signals, combined with real welding noises, show the trainee the current status as well as all deviations and/or correct techniques. This makes it possible for them to correct what they are doing straightaway.

SIMULATION SEQUENCE

After the training sequence, the simulation follows. In the simulation sequence, the trainee practices in a real welding situation without the support of the Ghost. The result is a virtual, realistic, and three-dimensional weld seam. This can be analyzed after the simulation using the playback feature with the help of the Ghost.

WELDING POSITIONS

Each position requires different welding techniques and manual skills. This is why welding trainees must be trained to master these different welding positions. Virtual Welding features an extensive range of options for practicing on a variety of workpieces that can be attached to the simulator in different positions. Whether an overhead fillet weld or an upward single-V butt weld – users can be trained in almost all welding positions.

VIRTUAL WELDING WITH A VARIETY OF FUNCTIONS

A range of useful functions make the welding trainer's job easier, while enabling trainees to learn welding skills and theoretical knowledge in an entertaining way.

VARIABLE GHOST

Variable Ghost means that the trainer can record how they guide the torch or their tried-and-tested style and use it as a basis for evaluating the welding tasks. This ensures training is as individual as possible.

RANKINGS

Each weld seam and knowledge test is evaluated objectively and in a traceable manner with scores. A ranking list records the results of all course participants. This simplifies the assessment of learning progress for the trainer while also promoting positive group dynamics – participants are motivated to improve just like in a sporting competition.

DATA DOCUMENTATION

All participants' results are automatically recorded and are available to the trainer at any time. They provide information about the intensity of the training and individual learning progress. The data can also be exported onto a USB thumb drive for use in other programs.

Quiz

The "Quiz" function can be used to develop basic welding expertise in an entertaining way. For each question (which can also be created by the trainer) there are four possible answers from which the correct one must be selected. A scoring system and a ranking list also make it possible for trainers and trainees to compare scores.

Playback

Each weld performed on the simulator is recorded and can be used to analyze and evaluate performance – either by the trainer or as a means of self-assessment by the training participants.

AVAILABLE IN OVER 20 LANGUAGES

Virtual Welding is available in over 20 languages, which practically eliminates language barriers during training.
